Principal PLM Configuration Manager

Negotiable

The era of pervasive AI has arrived. In this era, organizations will use generative AI to unlock hidden value in their data, accelerate processes, reduce costs, drive efficiency and innovation to fundamentally transform their businesses and operations at scale. SambaNova Suite™ is the first full-stack, generative AI platform, from chip to model, optimized for enterprise and government organizations. Powered by the intelligent SN40L chip, the SambaNova Suite is a fully integrated platform, delivered on-premises or in the cloud, combined with state-of-the-art open-source models that can be easily and securely fine-tuned using customer data for greater accuracy. Once adapted with customer data, customers retain model ownership in perpetuity, so they can turn generative AI into one of their most valuable assets. About the team The PLM team runs product data and configuration control for our AI systems and semiconductor hardware programs, sitting between Hardware and System Engineering, Silicon, NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality. It owns the PLM platform, the change control board, the release schedule against NPI gates, and the EBOM to MBOM handoff into ERP for products spanning silicon, PCBAs, racks, thermal and power subsystems, cables, firmware, and enclosures. The team is small and each person owns a product line end to end, so you will hold decisions rather than route them. About the role The PLM Configuration Principal owns product lifecycle and configuration management at the product level — running PLM the way a technical program manager runs a program, not the way a helpdesk runs a ticket queue. This role is the single accountable owner for how a product's data is structured, released, changed, and audited from first schematic through end of life. It is a dual-hat position. Roughly half is platform ownership: you hold administrator rights in the PLM system and personally configure object models, item and document types, BOM structures, lifecycle phases, change workflows, roles, and privilege masks. The other half is program execution: you chair the change control board, hold the release schedule against NPI gates, keep the EBOM-to-MBOM handoff clean into ERP, and unblock cross-functional decisions across Hardware/System Engineering, Ops PM, Supply Chain, Quality and Contract Manufacturer. The environment is high-mix, fast-revision AI systems and semiconductor hardware — L5-L12 (silicon, active/passive components, PCBs, PCBAs, racks, thermal and power subsystems, cables, firmware, and mechanical enclosures) — where a single mis-scoped ECO can strand inventory, slip a build, or ship a non-conforming rack. Precision is the job. Responsibilities PLM Platform Administration & Configuration (~40%) - Serve as the named functional administrator for the PLM application — configure and maintain object and subclass models, item and document types, attributes and page-three fields, autonumber schemes, lifecycle phases, revision and effectivity rules, and part numbering standards. - Build and maintain change workflows (ECR, ECO, ECN, MCO, deviation and waiver, stop-ship, and NCMR routings) including approval matrices, escalation timers, notification rules, and conditional routing logic. - Administer roles, privilege masks, and criteria-based access controls; enforce least privilege and segregation of duties across internal users, contract manufacturers, ODMs, and foundry or OSAT partners. - Own the PLM-to-ERP and PLM-adjacent integrations at the functional level: EBOM-to-MBOM transfer, item and AML/AVL synchronization, change-order publication, and reconciliation of failed transactions. Partner with IT on middleware and API-level defects. - Manage sandbox-to-production promotion, regression testing, patching and upgrade validation, and configuration documentation. Maintain a written configuration baseline of the PLM system itself. - Build reports, dashboards, and saved searches that give leadership real visibility into change aging, release readiness, and BOM health. Configuration & Change Management (~30%) - Chair the Change Control Board for the assigned product line: set the agenda, drive disposition, force decisions on stalled changes, and publish minutes and actions. - Establish and hold configuration baselines at each NPI gate (EVT, DVT, PVT, MP) — functional, allocated, and product baselines — with documented traceability from requirement to released design artifact. - Perform configuration status accounting: know at any moment what revision is released, what is in flight, what is deviated, and what configuration is in prototype, production and end-of-life. - Assess change impact across hardware, firmware, mechanical, test, documentation, and supply chain; drive effectivity decisions (date, serial, lot, or unit-based) and coordinate inventory disposition, rework, and field-affected units. - Run configuration audits (FCA and PCA) and support internal, customer, and ISO 9001 / AS9100 / ITAR / trade-compliance audits with evidence pulled directly from the system. - Control the release of drawings, specifications, test procedures, source-controlled and vendor-item drawings, firmware images, and approved manufacturer lists. Product-Level Program Management (~20%) - Own the PLM workstream on the product program plan — deliverables, dependencies, and gate exit criteria — and report status into the core team as a peer of the hardware, silicon, and operations program managers. - Hold NPI documentation gates. A gate does not pass because the schedule says so; it passes because the data package is complete and released. - Drive cross-functional alignment across Design, Silicon, NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Compliance, and Finance on data standards, part strategy, and change velocity. - Identify, escalate, and close risks tied to product data: unreleased parts on a build, uncontrolled documents, phantom or mis-structured BOMs, cost roll errors, obsolete or EOL components, and single-source exposure. - Deliver executive-level status and risk narrative — concise, quantified, and decision-oriented. Governance, Training & Continuous Improvement (~10%) - Author and maintain PLM SOPs, work instructions, data standards, and the configuration management plan. - Train and certify engineers, operations staff, and external partners on PLM usage and change discipline; act as the escalation point for complex user issues. - Measure and improve process health — change cycle time, first-pass approval rate, BOM accuracy, data completeness at gate — and run the improvement projects those metrics justify. - Mentor PLM analysts and provide functional direction to contractors or offshore support. Required qualifications - B.S. in Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline - 8+ years in product lifecycle management, configuration management, or engineering program management - 3+ years operating at the product-owner or program-owner level - Administrator-level, hands-on ownership of at least one enterprise PLM platform (Oracle Agile PLM 9.3.x, Oracle Fusion Cloud PLM, Arena PLM, SAP PLM/ECTR, or PTC Windchill), including workflows, object models, and privilege structures personally built and modified in production - PLM administrator certification or training completed within the last 3 years - Deep working command of engineering change management (ECR, ECO, ECN, MCO, deviation), revision and effectivity control, and multi-level EBOM and MBOM structures - Demonstrated experience with PLM-to-ERP integration (Oracle EBS, Oracle Fusion ERP, SAP, or NetSuite) including item and BOM synchronization and resolution of failed transactions - Hardware NPI experience across EVT, DVT, PVT, and MP in a high-complexity electromechanical, semiconductor, server/datacenter, or comparable regulated hardware environment - Proven ability to run a change control board and drive decisions among senior engineering and operations stakeholders without direct authority - Advanced Excel, plus SQL or report-builder proficiency sufficient to query and audit PLM data independently Preferred qualifications - Direct experience in AI infrastructure, semiconductor, or datacenter hardware: silicon and tapeout data, package and substrate BOMs, HBM and memory sourcing, PCBA and board assemblies, rack and system integration, thermal and power subsystems, or firmware release control - Experience standing up a PLM instance from scratch or leading a platform migration (Agile to Oracle Fusion Cloud PLM, Arena to Windchill, or similar) - Familiarity with CAD and EDA data management and PLM connectors (Cadence Allegro, Altium, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, Teamcenter) - Experience supporting contract manufacturers and ODMs with controlled external access to product data and with JDMs nice to have - Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, IPC standards, EAR/ITAR, RoHS/REACH, and conflict-minerals reporting obligations Base Salary Range: Base Pay Range $215,000 - $240,000 USD Submission Guidelines Please note that in order to be considered an applicant for any position at SambaNova Systems, you must submit an application form for each position for which you believe you are qualified. Principal PM, Product Strategy and Competitive

The era of pervasive AI has arrived. Once adapted with customer data, customers retain model ownership in perpetuity, so they can turn generative AI into one of their most valuable assets. SambaNova builds the RDU, a dataflow accelerator for AI inference, and delivers it as rack-scale systems for on-premises deployment, as managed capacity in partner data centers (SambaManaged), and as an API (SambaCloud). Our customers are clouds, governments, and enterprises building token factories: data center capacity dedicated to running agentic AI workloads. The RDU's advantage is in decode, and it is increasingly deployed alongside GPUs that handle prefill. SambaNova earns revenue from that advantage only if three things happen: the right models run on the platform at the right time, the surrounding ecosystem of serving engines, networking, storage, and orchestration treats RDU as a first-class target, and the company concentrates its engineering on the bets with the highest payoff. Core Product is the team responsible for those three things. It decides what SambaNova builds and why, grounds those decisions in benchmarks, competitive intelligence, and unit economics, and partners with engineering to see them through to release. Responsibilities SambaNova is hiring a Principal Product Manager, Product Strategy and Competitive Intelligence to turn external market intelligence into SambaNova product decisions. The role converts third-party research, competitor disclosures, and benchmark data into roadmap, pricing, and positioning calls, and it builds the AI tooling that keeps that analysis current without a large team behind it. The person in this role should be able to build a TCO model from primary inputs, read both architecture specifications and financial statements, and be hands-on enough with AI tooling to automate their own research pipeline. This individual will be responsible for: Market intelligence to product inputs - Own the pipeline from third-party research (SemiAnalysis TCO, Tokenomics, Accelerator, and Datacenter models; competitor disclosures; benchmark data) to decision-ready analysis. - Maintain the house model of where RDU inference wins on cost per million tokens, at which latency tiers, for which workloads, and against which competitor configurations. - Convert TCO, tokenomics, and data center data into roadmap language: feature priorities, pricing moves, and segment bets. - Open each product review with a summary of market changes since the last quarter and their implications for SambaNova. Competitor specifications and roadmaps - Track chip-level specifications for NVIDIA, AMD, Google TPU, AWS Trainium, Cerebras, Groq, and emerging accelerators: compute, memory hierarchy (SRAM, HBM, DDR), interconnect, power, process node, and packaging. - Track rack- and cluster-level design: scale-up and scale-out topology, networking (NVLink-class fabrics, Ethernet and InfiniBand, optics), storage, cooling, and rack power density. - Track roadmaps: announced parts, credible leaks, and supply signals such as HBM allocation, CoWoS capacity, and foundry node ramps. - When a spec or roadmap change moves the TCO or latency frontier, quantify the effect on SambaNova's positioning within a week. - Maintain a versioned spec comparison matrix with a changelog. AI tooling for intelligence - Build agentic pipelines that monitor research releases, competitor announcements, InferenceMAX and ClusterMAX updates, conference disclosures (Hot Chips, GTC, OCP), and regulatory and supply-chain filings. - Extract specs and claims into the comparison matrix automatically, with human review on anything that feeds a decision. - Automate the first draft of the weekly brief from monitored sources. - Treat the tooling as a product and iterate on precision, coverage, and detection latency. Segment and demand theses - Use data center capacity and power data to pressure-test the SambaManaged pipeline: which operators have stranded power and cooling suited to air-cooled RDU racks, where, and on what timeline. - Track workload mix shifts (agentic, chat, coding) and what they imply for decode-optimized positioning. - Keep a short list of falsifiable house theses and score them quarterly against outcomes. Intelligence cadence - Write a weekly two-page brief covering what changed, what it means, and which decision is needed from whom. - Produce a monthly deep dive tied to one live roadmap question. - Run a quarterly thesis review with the product and executive teams. - Set the analytical agenda for SambaNova's external research relationships, including the questions to raise on analyst calls and the custom data pulls to request. Another team member manages the vendor relationships and access. This role sets the questions and turns the outputs into product inputs. How We Measure This Role We measure this role by the product, pricing, and investment decisions its analysis changes, not by the volume of reports or summaries produced. Automated tooling handles monitoring and first drafts. The person in this role is accountable for the conclusions SambaNova draws from them. Basic Qualifications - 8+ years in semiconductor or AI infrastructure analysis, competitive intelligence, equity research, corporate or product strategy at a chip, cloud, or AI infrastructure company. - Has built quantitative market or economic models (accelerator forecasts, TCO, capacity and demand) from primary inputs. - Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, economics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience. Additional Required Qualifications - Fluent in accelerator and system architecture (compute, memory hierarchy, interconnect, power) and how each drives inference performance and cost. - Track record of translating competitor spec and roadmap changes into product, pricing, or investment decisions. - Hands-on with Python and LLM APIs, and able to build or direct agentic research tooling (extraction pipelines, monitoring agents) without waiting on an engineering team. - Concise, quantified, executive-ready writing with stated uncertainty. Preferred Qualifications - Direct experience with SemiAnalysis models (TCO, Tokenomics, Accelerator, ClusterMAX, InferenceMAX) or comparable institutional research. - Depth in inference economics: cost per million tokens, latency and throughput tradeoffs, prefill and decode disaggregation, and workload mix. - Rack- and cluster-level fluency: networking, optics, cooling, power density, and scale-up and scale-out topologies. - Has done capacity planning or GPU economics at a cloud, neocloud, or hyperscaler. - Has written an investment thesis that redirected a roadmap or a capital allocation, or built a decision framework that others kept running. - Willing to challenge a senior stakeholder's figures when the evidence supports it. Base Salary Range: Base Pay Range $216,000 - $260,000 USD Submission Guidelines Please note that in order to be considered an applicant for any position at SambaNova Systems, you must submit an application form for each position for which you believe you are qualified. EEO Policy SambaNova Systems is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Core Product is the team responsible for those three things. It decides what SambaNova builds and why, grounds those decisions in benchmarks, competitive intelligence, and unit economics, and partners with engineering to see them through to release. Responsibilities SambaNova is hiring a Director of Product, Ecosystem to own ecosystem strategy for our core products across scale-out networking, inference serving, storage and caching, prefill compute, agentic CPU offload, and compiler and RDU research: which integrations we pursue, how we position them, and how partners deploy them. Customers deploy RDU in token factories alongside other vendors' hardware and software. This role decides how RDU integrates at each layer, ships the reference architectures and certifications partners deploy from, and converts that work into demand. It sets the partner strategy that domain product managers and engineering execute within. This individual will be responsible for: Ecosystem strategy - Define where RDU integrates into each customer segment's token factory: prefill compute, caching storage, scale-out networking, and agentic CPU offload alongside RDU decode. - Make explicit build, partner, or ignore decisions for each integration area, write down the reasoning, and revisit it quarterly. - Anchor positioning on decode economics: tokens per second per user, cost per million tokens, and latency tiers. - Maintain a versioned ecosystem map with a changelog. Partner enablement - Publish joint reference architectures for each integration area, with defined integration points next to RDU decode. - Own certification of RDU against the common cloud-native stack: Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, and managed-stack vendors. - Ship operators, metrics exporters, dashboards, and integration documentation as maintained products rather than one-off deliverables. - Treat enablement as complete only when a cloud provider or partner can deploy from the reference architecture without SambaNova engineering support. Core software ecosystem - Secure and deliver co-optimization work with inference-engine builders (vLLM, SGLang, llm-d) and system-software optimizers so their runtimes run efficiently on RDU. - Represent SambaNova in PyTorch and MLIR community work. - Connect SambaNova's compiler and RDU research to the external ecosystem so programmability improvements reach the frameworks and toolchains partners build on. - Support co-engineering with model partners so flagship open models run fastest on RDU. Demand conversion - Run joint go-to-market with token-factory partners where the buyer and the data center are shared. - Own the analyst relationships with Marketing: supply benchmark data to SemiAnalysis and Artificial Analysis and co-develop token-factory reference guidance so buyers' TCO models reflect RDU's decode advantage. - Feed partner and integration signal into product bets and competitive intelligence, in partnership with the Product Strategy and Competitive Intelligence lead. Positioning and education - Own external positioning for the core product surface: how networking, serving, storage, prefill, and offload fit together in a token factory. - Produce internal educational content on the ecosystem for SambaNova teams. - Deliver a quarterly ecosystem scorecard to the executive team: partner deployments, reference architectures shipped, benchmark results, and partner-attached pipeline. How We Measure This Role We measure this role by partner deployments and partner-attached pipeline. MOUs, press releases, and announced logos do not count until the partner has deployed. Basic Qualifications - 10+ years in AI infrastructure, accelerators, or data center systems, including 8+ years in product management with direct ownership of ecosystem, platform, or partner-facing product. - Shipped partner-facing product artifacts (reference architectures, certification programs, or integration surfaces) that external teams adopted. - Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. Additional Required Qualifications - Working fluency across scale-out networking, inference serving, storage and caching, prefill and decode disaggregation, CPU offload, and compiler toolchains, with depth in at least two. - Track record of converting partnerships into measurable deployments, demand, or revenue. - Fluency in inference economics: cost per million tokens, tokens per second per user, and latency and throughput tradeoffs by workload. - Comfortable owning a strategy that other organizations execute. Technical depth in both network fabric topologies and inference serving stacks. - Concise, quantified written communication for executive audiences. Preferred Qualifications - Experience at both a silicon or systems vendor (for example, the CUDA, ROCm, or oneAPI ecosystems, or an inference accelerator startup) and at a model lab or inference provider. - Has closed and delivered at least one co-optimization engagement with a model provider. - Contributions to, or close working relationships with, the vLLM, SGLang, llm-d, PyTorch, or MLIR communities. - Exposure to hardware sales cycles: racks, data center constraints (power, cooling, density), and financing-backed deals. - Has run joint go-to-market with networking, storage, or compute vendors that share a common buyer. Base Salary Range: Base Pay Range $243,000 - $297,000 USD Submission Guidelines Please note that in order to be considered an applicant for any position at SambaNova Systems, you must submit an application form for each position for which you believe you are qualified.
